OUR MISSION Tirol is Tirol. A place like no other, overwhelming and magic. Over the years we have climbed thousands of metres on its rocks and lived through moments we will tell our grand- children about. The times have changed, but one thing stayed the same: our constant desire to go to Tirol and climb there a little more. Euphoria is one thing, reality another. To present all the fa cets of this climbing-universe an opus magnum with biblical dimensions would be needed. To localise its fix-stars and to get a good overview a magazine like the one you’re holding in your hands is just perfect. Its concept is simple: Each of Tirol’s 16 climbing-regions presents itself with one area. Nevertheless the following pages are not only about the best places and the most beautiful lines in Tirol. They are also dedicated to the people, the climbers and first-ascen- sionists, who with their drive, motivation and vision have made Tirol what it is: a climbing-eldorado that is second to none. For that we owe them gratitude and respect. You know who you are! Hence our mission-statement regarding this project can easily be boiled down to the following essence: Visit this spot, enjoy its landscape and rocks, dive into its culture and first and foremost get to know the people that live and climb here. You will have a good time. If your fingertips get sweaty as ours thinking about coming here to climb, we are more than happy: Mission accomplished! Tirol ist Tirol. Ein Platz wie kein zweiter, über- wältigend und magisch. Zigtausende Meter haben wir im Laufe unseres Lebens an seinen Felsen abgespult und im Zuge dessen Momente erlebt, von denen wir unseren Groß- enkeln noch am Kaminfeuer erzählen werden. Auch wenn die Jahre ins Land ziehen und sich die Zeiten ändern, eines ist gleich geblieben: unser ständiger Drang loszuziehen, Tirol zu erklettern. Euphorie ist die eine Sache, die Realität eine andere. Um allen Facetten dieses Kletteruniversums gerecht zu werden, bräuchte es ein Opus bibelhaften Ausmaßes. Um dessen Fixsterne zu lokalisieren und einen Überblick zu schaffen, ist ein Magazin wie das vorliegende aber perfekt. Sein Konzept ist einfach: Jede der 16 Kletterregionen Tirols präsentiert sich mit einem Gebiet. Auf den folgenden Sei- ten soll es aber nicht nur um die besten Plätze und die schönsten Linien gehen. Uns war es wichtig auch jene vor- zustellen, die mit ihrem Tatendrang, ihrer Vision und ihrer Motivation Tirol zu dem gemacht haben, was es ist: ein Kletter-Eldorado, das seinesgleichen sucht. Dafür gebührt ihnen Dank und Respekt. You know who you are! Besucht diesen Flecken Erde, genießt seine Felsen und seine Landschaften, taucht ein in seine Kultur und lernt die Menschen, die hier leben und klettern, kennen. Ihr werdet eine verdammt gute Zeit haben, versprochen. Wenn eure Fingerkuppen bei dem Gedanken, hier zu klettern, ebenso feucht werden wie unsere, sind wir zufrieden.
