Sport climbing in the Tannheimer Tal
Outdoor adventure in the "most beautiful high valley in Europe"
The Tannheimer Tal in the north of Tyrol is known for its peaks such as Gimpel, Hochwiesler and Rote Flüh with tours of all levels of difficulty and has some of the most beautiful via ferratas in Tyrol to offer. Numerous sport climbing routes and multi-pitch tours, 2 waterfalls for ice climbing and 1 high ropes course attract climbing enthusiasts to the "most beautiful high valley in Europe". And this has been the case for a very long time, as climbing has a long tradition here: several climbs were opened on the up to 200 m high south faces at the turn of the century and many of the old routes have now been renovated.
But the Tannheimer Tal also has a lot to offer away from the rocks: Sport, nature, tradition and enjoyment - a rich offer is guaranteed in any case.
Climbing garden tips for sport climbers in the Tannheimer Tal
- Gaichtpass
Although traffic rattles over the Gaichtpass in the immediate vicinity, this climbing garden is a worthwhile destination for outdoor adventures: it only takes 5 minutes to get from the parking lot to the access point and enjoy a magnificent view across the Lechtal valley to the Liegfeist group. The climbing garden with its 21 routes of medium difficulty is not really suitable for beginners, as the rock is split and somewhat brittle in places. - Rote Flüh
2,108 m high, the Rote Flüh rises out of the Tannheimer Tal. In this outdoor climbing garden on the north side of Hochwiesl, beginners can also gain their first experience and find their climbing happiness. 10 routes in difficulty levels 3 to 5 await you here at a wall height of 15 to 30 meters. You can sometimes even spot chamois above the routes. - Hochwiesler
The rock of the Hochwiesler is not always reliable, but thanks to the good protection it is still a wonderfully carefree climb. And with beautiful views down into the Gimpelkar. 11 routes with a north-easterly orientation in difficulty levels 3 to 6 bring you a little closer to heaven. Outdoor climbing at its best! - Pulpit
South of the Neunerköpfle, on the Kanzel, the Tannheim mountain rescue team opened up a new climbing garden in 2010. The finest limestone invites you to enjoy climbing. The crag is easy to reach, after taking the Vogelhornbahn cable car up and a 10-minute walk, you can get started. With 22 routes, the Kanzel climbing garden offers enough options for every climber.
