Passauer Hütte (bis 10SL)
Ideally located at the starting point for the ascent of the highest peak of the Leoganger Steinberge, the Birnhorn. It offers comfortable, small huts but also a perfect base camp for climbers. The short climbs at the so-called Kaffeköpflen and die many, in the meanwhile renovated, alpine sports climbing routes at the Fahnenköpf provide enough destinations for a long weekend.
Direkt von der Bahnhaltestelle Leogang-Steinberge folgt man einer Flurstrasse im Birnbachtal einwärts. Der Normalweg (AV-Steig Nr 623) führt an dem südseitigen latschenbesetzten Bergrücken im Zickzack und stellenweise auch durch Schrofen bis unter das Fahnenköpfel. Dessen Westwandfuss wird gequert (Achtung auf Steinschlag aus der Westwand!) zu einer Einsattelung. Von hier in wenigen Minuten zur Hütte, insgesamt ca 2 1/2 Stunden.
