Alpine and difficult: the via ferratas in St. Anton
- Arlberg via ferrata
High above the Stanzertal valley, this alpine and strenuous route leads almost always along the ridge and skilfully stretches over the ridge peaks of St. Anton. Several emergency descents come in handy if you run out of breath on the 2,800 m long tour. You will encounter snow fields in the notches and north-facing walls well into the summer. This via ferrata is only recommended for children (if at all) with an additional safety device. But this much is certain: you may be tired after this full day of touring, but you'll be happy. - Arlberg winter via ferrata
An exciting undertaking with a high alpine character is an excursion on the Arlberg winter via ferrata - the only one of its kind in the whole of Tyrol. The ridge crossing and the short rock climbing sections with touring boots and skis are a real challenge, but you are rewarded with a fantastic 1 km long descent. And hand on heart: for experienced ski tourers, descriptions such as "alpine, difficult and strenuous" are music to the ears. In icy conditions, you should also have crampons and an ice axe with you; safety equipment is mandatory.
