Sport climbing in the outdoor region Imst

A true climbing garden paradise

As part and origin of the Climbers Paradise initiative, the Tyrolean outdoor region of Imst is truly a heaven for climbing enthusiasts. Wonderful, varied climbing opportunities - on the rock and in the hall - as well as professional framework conditions from the infrastructure to the offer in all levels of difficulty to accommodation that specializes in climbers. Imst makes climbing happiness perfect.

The region also offers everything holidaymakers could wish for from an outdoor region with genuine Tyrolean hospitality: a destination with unique opportunities for hiking and cycling - and all this in the heart of the Alpine passes!

Insider climbing tip from Angela Eiter:

"I recommend a detour to the Muttekopf area. This peaceful area fascinates me in particular because of its geological uniqueness. I find different rocks here, from compact marl or conglomerate to brittle slate. The climbing up there offers something for everyone. Whether sport climbing, multi-pitch or via ferrata, the Imst rock kitchen serves up a varied buffet. As do the surrounding huts, where I can recharge my energy."

The 3 most popular sport climbing areas around Imst

  • Hahntennjoch: The small sport climbing area on the southern slopes of the Falscher Kogel just above the Hahntennjoch is in a beautiful, sunny location in the middle of the Lechtal Alps. The approach is relatively short at around 30 minutes. Climbing enthusiasts will find challenging routes in the climbing gardens Psychowandl, which is located in a heavily overhanging rocky ledge below the pass road to the Hahntennjoch, and Anhalterhütte in high alpine terrain. There are also several multi-pitch routes through the wall, which is up to 400 m high.
  • Karres/Rote Wand: A total of 134 routes up to 33 m in length await climbing enthusiasts in this area. The difficulties range from 3 to 9 and the approach to the climbing garden is short. Due to the location, which favors rapid drying after rainfall, climbing is possible almost all year round.
  • Nassereith: The area around Nassereith offers a wide variety of sport climbing at all levels of difficulty. Here you will find the climbing gardens Botanischer Garten, which was newly created in summer 2007 and is also recommended for beginners and families (17 routes), Fuchsschrofen, a very beautiful climbing garden in the forest with plenty of shade, which is aimed more at advanced climbers (22 routes), Götterwandl (36 routes), Leite, a vertical to slightly overhanging smooth wall, which was made accessible in 2007 (42 routes), as well as the Sparchet climbing garden, which was also newly created in summer 2007 and is quite extensive with 106 routes.
