The Imst vacation region in the Tyrolean Oberland has a lot to offer at any time of year: Whether climbing, hiking, mountaineering, swimming, mountain biking or rafting - sports enthusiasts of all abilities are spoiled for choice here!

The climbing offer is particularly varied and diverse. With more than 3,000 routes of all levels of difficulty - the route network has been extensively expanded and renovated in recent years - and the highest climbing hall in Austria, the area is one of the top spots on the scene!

And if you don't fancy a long descent along the hiking trail, the Alpine Coaster is highly recommended. With lots of bends and high speeds, it takes you down into the valley - an experience that promises to be great fun!

4 multi-pitch tips around Imst

  • Engelkarturm
    9 beautiful, rewarding climbing tours, mainly on slabs, cracks and overhanging. The distances between bolts are large. The approach from the Muttekopfhütte takes approx. 50 minutes. The descent can be made via two abseil slopes. Alpine climbing at its best!
  • Hintere Platteinspitze
    A long, varied alpine tour at approx. 2,700 m altitude. Stable high-pressure weather is necessary as you have to climb all the way to the summit. The upper pitches of the tour are very rewarding, so it is also advisable to climb it in conjunction with the lower part of the Melzergrat, the Melzerkante or another route on the Melzerplatten. The ascent takes about 90 minutes. The descent is via the Engelkar.
  • Imst/Muttetürme
    The 8 routes on the Muttetürme towers, which are located on the NNO ridge of the Muttekopf, were set up in 2012 and 2013. Stands and pitches are equipped with bolts, but mobile safety equipment should still be carried. In spring, the climb can also be combined with a ski tour to the Muttekopf or Scharnitzkopf.
  • Nassereith - Tieftal
    The 8 routes on the Gamspfeiler are well secured, but have an alpine character and are therefore not recommended for pure sport climbers. The descent can only be managed by abseiling on the respective route. The Samsersteig (length 95 m), Herbstsonne (105 m), Höhlen-Traverse (60 m) and Leben im Sonnenschein (110 m) routes are particularly recommended. The ascent takes about 20 minutes. There should never be more than one rope team on a route in order not to increase the risk of falling rocks.
