The Imst vacation region in the Tyrolean Oberland has a lot to offer at any time of year: Whether climbing, hiking, mountaineering, swimming, mountain biking or rafting - sports enthusiasts of all abilities are spoiled for choice here!

The climbing offer is particularly varied and diverse. With more than 3,000 routes of all levels of difficulty - the route network has been extensively expanded and renovated in recent years - and the highest climbing hall in Austria, the area is one of the top spots on the scene!

And if you don't fancy a long descent along the hiking trail, the Alpine Coaster is highly recommended. With lots of bends and high speeds, it takes you down into the valley - an experience that promises to be great fun!

Salvesen Gorge and Salvesen Falls in Tarrenz

The scenically impressive, deeply carved Salvesenklamm gorge in Tarrenz is a popular and rewarding excursion destination, especially in the warmer months. Here you will find beautiful, idyllic hiking trails, which are also very suitable for families with children with their many attractions, as well as several multi-pitch tours of medium to high difficulty.

  • However, the area promises a very special sporting challenge in winter, when the Salvesen Falls can be climbed.
  • Where the water rushes down between 25 and 80 m in summer, climbers experience a very special kind of sporting challenge at the icefalls in winter.
  • The impressive natural backdrop in which the Salvesen Falls are embedded does the rest. A climbing experience not to be missed!
  • The ascent to the icefalls takes around 30 minutes.
