Via ferratas in the Ötztal

Sporting challenges in a breathtaking natural setting

The 67 km long Ötztal guarantees a first-class nature and sports experience. Here you will not only find the highest waterfall in Tyrol, the Stuibenfall (159 m), and the second highest mountain in Austria, the Wildspitze (3,772 m), there is also no other valley in Tyrol where fantastic climbing areas and varied via ferratas and climbing gardens are as close together as here. The Ötztal therefore has something for every skill level!

And for those who want to move away from the rocks, an extensive program of outdoor activities awaits - from biking in the Bike Republic Sölden to a visit to the Aqua Dome - Tirol Therme Längenfeld or Area47 to exploring the numerous mountain railroads in Ötztal or Lake Piburger See in Oetz.

Via ferrata tips in Ötztal

  • Lehner Waterfall Fantastic via ferrata in a charming setting that provides spectacular photo opportunities! Beautifully laid out by the waterfall, with a few special features, such as a difficult overhang that can be bypassed.
  • Stuibenfall via ferrata The via ferrata leads along fabulous routes through the fascinating scenery of the Stuibenfall. It leads over rope bridges and through the forest to the impressive walls at the waterfall. The via ferrata is suitable for children and beginners - there are plenty of footholds!
  • Via ferrataHaiming/Geierwand A moderately difficult via ferrata with a height of almost 400 m and a walking time of around 2.5 hours (ascent). However, there is a mini and midi version, which is why the via ferrata is also suitable for beginners. Particularly beautiful views of the Inn Valley!
  • Burgsteinwand - Reinhard-Schiestl via ferrata A difficult via ferrata, wonderfully exposed and built into the vertical wall. There are plenty of footholds and two rest areas. Also worthwhile is a hike over the suspension bridge and the hamlet of Brand, which doesn't take much longer than the normal descent.
  • Via ferrata Sölden/Moosalm Short but racy training via ferrata in a beautiful location. It is quite exposed, but nicely laid out in the bouldery Ötztal primary rock. Appropriate via ferrata equipment is required!
