Description

The climbing on the blocks is extremely varied: cracks, intersections, parts of slabs and overhangs are on the “climbing menu”. However, beginners will hardly find anything here. The climbing is predominantly in the middle to upper grades, and the routes are rated rather strictly.
Niederthai is one of the top climbing destinations in Austria.

Access

From the parking lot, follow the hiking trail to the “Wiesle” for about 20 minutes. The first blocks are right on the side of the path. For the further blocks you stay on the hiking trail for about 3 minutes and then leave it on the left.
From here it goes steeply up to the other sectors (see access sketch).
The bathing lake, the Ötzi village, the impressive Stuibenfall or the idyllic inn “Wiesle” are ideal “after climb” activities.

Journey

From the roundabout at the beginning of the Ötztal, drive on the Ötztal road B 186 for about 14 km to Umhausen. At the entrance to the town turn left from the B 186 and follow the sign “Niederthai”. From the outskirts of Umhausen at the Stuibenfall car park, drive about 2.7 km further on the road towards Niederthai. There is parking space in the last left-hand bend before the Stuibenfall viewpoint.
