Due to the high altitude, there are countless waterfalls in the Tyrolean Oberland and especially in the Kaunertal that are perfect for ice climbing in winter. The routes are consistently challenging due to their length. We present the 4 most spectacular ice climbing routes in the Tyrolean Oberland:
- Quarry
The waterfall can be reached after a 10-minute ascent and the climbing on the 220 m high icefall, which has a difficulty level of WI 6, is quite something. A rewarding challenge for ambitious ice climbers! - Fear of lust - Kaunertal
Demanding climbing on a free-hanging icicle. The climbing on the 130 m high icefall ranges in difficulty from 3 to 6. The route is particularly mentally demanding. Incidentally, the route was first climbed from below without bolts. - The yellow river - Kaunertal
