The Taufenkopf is considered one of the oldest multi-pitch climbing regions. As early as 1984, Darshano L. Rieser and Gerhard Hörhager successfully completed the first ascent of the "Sei Poet" route, which is still one of the most impressive lines in the Zillertal. The southern exposure of the Taufenkopf allows sunny climbing already in spring, making this location a sought-after choice.

The routes in the south-western and central parts are generously equipped with bolts, which ensures a pleasant climbing experience. In contrast, bolts have been largely dispensed with on the south face, which means that this section is reserved exclusively for experienced alpine climbers.

The approach leads along near an avalanche trench, which is why avalanches are possible on critical days.

NOTE:
The area is closed between 1 October and 30 April. Particularly in late winter and spring, increased attention to the potential avalanche danger is advised.
