The Mühlwand, a steep and sunny climbing wall, towers above the "Schwarze Wand" in the Zillergrund. Access is via the same approach as to the "Schwarze Wand" along an easily recognisable hiking trail. This climbing paradise has everything that makes a climber's heart beat faster: Intersections, roofs, sharp edges, slabs and, last but not least, generous sunlight.

On the Mühlwand you will find one of the most demanding multi-pitch routes in the Zillertal, making it a place of challenge and excitement for climbers.

Mayrhofen - Multi-Pitch Climbing | Mühlwand climbing area

Schwarze Wand climbing area

Schwarze Wand climbing area

The Black Wall is basically reserved for expert climbers, revealing the sight of an absolutely magnificent rock. The special thing about this wall is the extraordinary fact that you climb along beautiful finger holes formed by the action of the granite.

A little above, on the Mühlwand, you will find perfectly secured multi-pitch routes that will challenge and reward you at the same time. The characteristics of this climbing region are technically demanding slabs, wonderful ledges, which are so typical in the Zillertal, as well as the eroded finger holes.

NOTE: About 100 metres down the valley from the car park is the Freedom sector with two challenging routes (8b+/c and 7c+) waiting for you to explore.
