Together with its vacation villages, the city of Innsbruck offers not only the famous via ferratas on the Nordkette and in the Martinswand, but also a multitude of routes that can be climbed all year round. Whether sport climbing in the climbing garden or multi-pitch climbing - the numerous tours leave nothing to be desired for beginners or experts. Rugged rocks and steep walls create the ideal conditions for wonderful experiences. Many of them can be found in the Karwendel Nature Park.
5 via ferrata tips in Innsbruck and the surrounding area
- Adlerklettersteig via ferrata on the Karkopf The Adlerklettersteig via ferrata on the Karkopf (2,469 m) at the foot of the Niedere Munde in Mieming is a day-long tour. The via ferrata winds along a beautiful line along the east ridge to the summit on excellent, grippy Wetterstein limestone. Neuralgic passages are equipped with additional safety devices and allow climbers to belay themselves. The tour in difficulty level C/D takes around 3 hours, the approach 2 hours.
- Crazy Eddy Above Silz, the Crazy Eddy fun via ferrata guarantees varied climbing fun at its best. It takes 20 minutes to reach the start, then a rope bridge and an abseiling point await via ferrata pros on the D-level route. If you want to use the abseiling point in the direction of the spider, you will need additional equipment (rope, abseiling eights, etc.) as well as the appropriate know-how.
- Innsbruck via ferrata A breathtaking view over Innsbruck, a short, cable car-supported approach and a beautiful ridge climb in the limestone - these are the ingredients that make the Innsbruck via ferrata on the Nordkette one of the most popular in the region. The first part, which leads from the Hafelekar to the Langer Sattel, has a difficulty level of C. Less experienced via ferrata climbers have the option of descending to the middle station of the Nordkette cable car. The second part is more challenging and leads over a suspension bridge to the Frau-Hitt saddle.
- Kaiser-Max via ferrata An extremely challenging climb in difficulty level E awaits via ferrata pros on the Kaiser-Max via ferrata in the Martinswand. The wall rises almost vertically, especially in the 2nd section, and the slab terrain with few steps is an additional challenge. If you run out of strength, you can easily leave the via ferrata at Maximiliansgrotte and descend from there.
- Wank via ferrata The moderately difficult Wank via ferrata leads over the jagged terrain from Stöttltörl to the Wankspitz (2,209 m) above Obsteig. This is a beautiful ridge climb of difficulty level C with magnificent views of the Inntal valley. On the descent via the Grasmatten you can stop off at the Lehnberghaus. The Wank via ferrata is now also used in winter in combination with a ski tour to Stöttltörl (2,036 m) - provided you have the appropriate experience and safe conditions.
