THE 4 top spots in Tyrol:

  • Pitztal
The Pitztal can be described as a Mecca for ice climbing. It is not for nothing that the World Ice Climbing Championships have already been held there! For experienced ice climbers, the "Marchlehnfall", the "Eggenstallfall" or the "Fallebachfall" offer spectacular ice. Want to know what the ice is like in the Pitztal? Alfi from 'Alpine-Adventure' regularly publishes his ICE NEWS here.
  • Ötztal
The Ötztal is not only a climbing paradise in summer, but also when the temperatures drop, the Ötztal has a lot to offer for ice climbing. The two routes on the Burgsteiner are a real treat for experts.
  • Kaunertal
The "Gaunertal" - Kaunertal, rings the bells of every ice climber. Routes such as the "Grottendach" or the "Zwirn" are among the most challenging icefalls in Tyrol!
  • Innsbruck
Although the sports capital of the country does not directly offer ice climbing opportunities itself, you can reach ice climbing areas such as Sellrain in just 30-45 minutes by car. In the early days of ice climbing, Andi Orgler and Otti Wiedmann managed to climb the "Hängende Gärten" icefall there, which was the most difficult icefall in Tyrol for a long time.
