Bouldering in Tyrol

Climbing fun for beginners and experts

Bouldering is climbing at jump height without using traditional climbing equipment: Pack your climbing shoes and bouldering mat and leave the climbing rope and helmet at home! With friends who "spot" each other (that's what bouldering is called), it's a great way to spend an outdoor day surrounded by fantastic rocks and boulders. If you're still motivated after cleaning and finding the lines, simply stretch a rope between the trees and enjoy an outdoor slackline session at sunset.

Climbing gyms for bouldering save every rainy day!

If the weather doesn't play along, you will find a large number of climbing halls in Climbers Paradise Tirol, which offer climbing and bouldering routes of all levels of difficulty.

Most halls have a separate area for bouldering, but there are also bouldering halls in Tirol. The climbing holds are often changed several times during the season, so that new and exciting bouldering problems are constantly being created. If you would like to hone your bouldering technique, you can attend courses on site and receive coaching.

5 tips for bouldering beginners

  • Don't forget to warm up - bouldering puts a lot of strain on your tendons and ligaments!
  • Look at routes carefully first, then climb - use your own strength correctly.
  • Resting on the "long arm" - without this technical tip, you will tire very quickly when bouldering and feel "exhausted".
  • Always climb from the shoulder by skillfully turning, don't boulder with the strength of your arms alone.
  • "Spotting", belaying the climber, needs to be practiced and requires full concentration. The spotter controls the climber's fall with his hands and tries to bring him into an upright position. If this is successful, the climber can land with their feet.

3 must-haves for bouldering

  • Brush for cleaning the lines: Brushes are available in countless designs, the most beautiful are those made of wood.
  • Chalkbag: For grip and to protect your fingers - usually also has an extra place for the brush.
  • Crashpad or bouldering mat: Important to soften falls and guarantee a soft landing. The mats are also super comfortable and are therefore perfect for sitting around the campfire or taking a nap.
