The hanger of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena

A warm fall day, some motivated people and again the question of where to go. Time is of the essence and after a quick search on the Climbers Paradise homepage, the choice fell on the "Hanger" climbing garden under the Zugspitze. The journey started from Mösern via Ehrwald in the direction of Garmisch and after an hour and a half's drive, around 8 Mauerfix arrived at the parking lot. We didn't park behind the bridge as described in the Tirol guide, but in front of it on a bulge next to the main road.

After a short, pleasant ascent via an asphalt road, we quickly reached the base of the wall of the Hangers and quickly started climbing.

Powering through the Hanger!

This climbing garden can generally be classified as quite challenging. Although most of the routes are no longer than 25m and the rock is also very compact, there are only a few routes that don't have long overhanging passages. Among the few easy tours, we can definitely recommend the "Piazschüppli" 6a route.

For all those with enough strength and experience, it gets really fun here from a difficulty level of 7a. Lilu and Stitsch and Monster AG are a must for all those who have mastered this grade.

The climbing day at the Hanger(as some of us joked, the name probably comes from the colloquial word for coat hanger) turned out to be a good day for the Mauerfix to "practice & project". One or two of us will certainly still be feeling this for several days afterwards, but that's the way it should be...

With this in mind:

Hang in there!
