Sport and alpine climbing: 3 spots with the finest autumn grip

Climbing in late fall has its own charm: the air is fresh and dry, the sky is clear. You have to rub your hands warm before climbing, knowing that the grip on the rock is most likely perfect now. We've picked out a few great alpine routes for you that are still easy to climb in late fall thanks to short ascents and descents and manageable climbing meters. Of course, we also have a few special treats on offer for all sport climbing fans, whereby we have also made sure that the climbing gardens are located in or near the valley so that you have as much time as possible to climb and still get back in daylight.

1st Ötztal: multi-pitch routes in Längenfeld/Nösslach

Right in the middle of the 65-kilometre-long Ötztal, just outside the municipality of Längenfeld, lies a magnificent gneiss wall with 10 alpine routes (with a maximum of 7 pitches), which scores with a west/southwest orientation and short ascents and descents - ideal for sunny late autumn days. Such routes quickly become addictive - it's good that the short descent is quick and unproblematic, so you can perhaps tackle a second tour, such as the Träumerei (6a+), the Sonnenblume (5c) or the Strada del Sole (6b)? Whichever route you choose, you'll be back at the parking lot in time for sunset and can relax your tired, climbed muscles in the nearby "Aqua Dome" thermal spa in Längenfeld.

2nd Steinberge: Sport climbing in the Pillerseetal valley

Wonderful ambience vis a vis the west face of the Loferer Steinberg

A bit of climbing, deliberately in a small area, preferably in an idyllic, somewhat hidden location, but still with plenty of sunshine, which no longer makes us sweat in autumn, but provides cozy warmth: You can spend such a chilled climbing garden in the Steinberge region in the Adolari climbing garden near Waidring in Pillerseetal. Eight nice sectors with a total of over 50 routes in the forest leave little to be desired. And the reward at the nearby Adolariwirt doesn't either!

3rd Karres near Imst: Rote Wand sports climbing garden

It's not for nothing that the Rote Wand in Karres in the Outdoor region Imst is considered a year-round climbing area thanks to its southern exposure. But the mighty rock massif offers so much more: a whole 7 sectors and over 150 sport climbing routes. The first sector, "Märchenwald", can be reached on foot in 10 minutes from the well-signposted parking lot on the outskirts of Karres. The perfectly renovated routes also offer lengths of up to 33 meters.
