Seegrube - Climbing high above Innsbruck

Another beautiful day in September and two sports-loving girls from Switzerland visiting. What better thing to do than CLIMBING!

Luftikus 6b

After a quick search in the Climbers Paradise app, we came across the Seegrube climbing arena. And off we went! By car to the Nordkettenbahn (free parking lot approx. 200m in front of the cable car), bought a ticket for €24 (€16 for students or free with the leisure ticket) and up to 1905m to the Seegrube. From there it's a short 25-minute climb over the gravel field to the wall (high boots advisable) and you're rewarded with a view that is second to none!

We encountered a very varied wall with enjoyable climbs such as Luftikus 5b, as well as more technically demanding routes peppered with water holes such as Oppa Aia 6b. Everything is very well secured with bolts, but sometimes a little brittle. So helmets are compulsory! For the sporty routes, a long rope and sun cream are essential.

In the afternoon, we headed back down to the Panoramarestauerant on the Seegrube. Here we enjoyed a beer with a wonderful view over Innsbruck and took the last train back down to the valley at 17:30.
