Strengthening community and cohesion among young people through climbing at school - that is the aim of the Kraxlfreunde project. Because climbing teaches pupils for life: strengthening social skills, improving class communities, dealing with fears, learning new movement patterns and thus improving motor skills - these are just a few of the successes of the Kraxlfreunde project. The experiences to date show how the power of sport can change the world of children and build bridges where they are still lacking. And so the Kraxlfreunde project built bridges again at one of its highlights to date:

After a few visits to the climbing center in Innsbruck and a few bouldering lessons in the bouldering room at NMS Gabelsberger, the students were finally able to gain climbing experience on the rock. This time they were joined by Lukas Knapp, two-time national champion in the speed discipline. He gave the youngsters valuable professional tips and the pupils were able to ask him questions and take home souvenir photos and autographs, which was met with great enthusiasm.

The "Kraxlfreunde" project uses the sport of climbing to improve the classroom atmosphere and interaction between pupils. For almost two years now, regular climbing lessons have been held in Innsbruck's new secondary schools. This project has given most of the young people the opportunity to try out climbing for the first time and they have discovered the joy of this sport.
Pupil quote: "It's so much fun and from now on my absolute favorite sport."
The highlights are definitely the hut stays and rock units, which are always combined with experiential educational games and content.
