4th climbing garden Nösslach - White Giant
What happens when 6 climbing pros sit down at a table to choose the 5 most beautiful lines in Climbers Paradise Tirol? They laughed a lot, talked shop, exchanged fond memories and finally the pros came to an agreement. We present the 5 selected routes in our Great Lines series.
Who chose the Great Lines?
6 top climbers really went all out: Barbara Bacher, Kilian Fischhuber, Michaela Harnisch, Michael Meisl, Markus Schwaiger and Barbara Zangerl have put together a hit list.
From the Great Wall of China, the Dolomite Hut and the Schleier Waterfall, the tour continues to Ötztal, more precisely to Nösslach. The Nösslach climbing garden in Ötztal is located at the foot of the imposing wall above Nösslach and offers multi-faceted granite climbing.

The Weißer Riese route was opened up by Christoph Rimml in 1985 and is certainly the classic in Nösslach. It is easy to recognize due to the light-coloured rock on an otherwise dark grey wall. It is located in the sector of the same name in the middle of the forest and offers a good mix of
of holds, hangers, ledges and small cracks.
What does it demand?
Barbara Zangerl explains it best: "Classics are never a gift: technique and (finger) strength are always required here."
Quote from the expert jury:
Barbara Bacher: "My favorite route in Nösslach. It is always a
a pleasure to get on."
