Climbing moves instead of powder turns

Lukas Wimmer climbs until the snow comes:

I've long since woken the powder slats from their summer slumber. The wax has been removed and the skis are just waiting for Mother Hulda to wake up and give us unforgettable days together. This pair of skis and I have already had so many wonderful days and we can hardly wait to make the first tracks on the still untracked slope. But that's another story.

Well, it's the end of December and the climbing gear is still in my room. The weather simply lends itself to great south-facing climbing tours. So Niki, Raffi and I set off for the Geierwand in Haiming on a beautiful but freezing cold Saturday morning. It's not worth starting too early, as it's only pleasant for climbing when the sun has warmed the rock. So we set off on Sunset Boulevard at 11am. An enjoyable tour with 8 pitches, graded 6a. Unfortunately, the first few meters of climbing are a bit sandy and our fingers are still cold. Nevertheless, climbing is climbing and the movements alone are enough to put a smile on my face. From the plinth onwards, it gets brilliant. The next lengths are really beautiful and unfortunately the actual tour comes to an end after 8 pitches. However, we decide to exit via the Alhambra. This is followed by two great pitches where we enjoy the last rays of sunshine. After two more pitches, we reached the exit and were delighted with the enjoyable meters of climbing we had completed. On the descent, however, we still needed our headlamps.

When we got home, I was very happy to have made the most of this wonderful day. Well, even if it wasn't the untracked slope, it was at least as beautiful. As long as the weather is so fantastic, you can have a lot of fun even without snow.

So until Mrs. Holle finally wakes up, I will continue to collect climbing moves instead of powder turns.
