At the height of summer, when the sun is beating down with the temperatures, there is only one motto for climbers: either climb high up into the cooler mountain air or seek the shade. The choice of climbing gardens is then somewhat limited. Not so many climbing gardens meet the desired high summer criteria.
The Pitztal - the area for high summer
Some of these can be found in the Pitztal. The 40 km long southern side valley of the Inn Valley is not only the starting point in winter and summer for climbing the Wildspitze, the highest peak in Tyrol at 3768 m, but also offers climbing opportunities for high summer.
We present an area for professionals, beginners and families and a bouldering area for everyone.
For professionals and advanced climbers The Unterwelt
The Unterwelt climbing garden is in the shade all day and offers ideal conditions for climbing on hot days thanks to the cool temperatures. Many routes stay dry for longer even when it rains. The routes are all very boulder-heavy and rated very hard up to 7a. There are over 50 routes in total in the various sectors.

For families and beginners The Mittelberg Gletscherstube
The west-facing Mittelberg Gletscherstube climbing garden offers almost 50 routes, all of which are very child- and family-friendly. Due to the altitude, it is often pleasantly cool and the nearby Gletscherstube is a great place to stop for refreshments.
The Mandlers Boden bouldering area
The Mandlers Boden bouldering area is located in the middle of a shady forest. The boulders are all numbered and marked. In the middle is a large clearing with an inviting picnic area. Sounds like a fantasy, but it's reality in the Mandlers Boden bouldering area. Most of the problems are between 3a and 7a and are therefore ideal for children and families. What's more, the jump-off area is very good and the boulders are not too high. Even top climbers will find a problem or two.
