Bouldering with the family

Bouldering, climbing on boulders at jump height, has gained enormously in importance in recent years. New bouldering halls are being built all over the world and more and more people are taking a liking to what is probably the most original form of climbing. Especially for climbing families with children, bouldering is often less complicated than rope climbing and is therefore often preferred.

One region in particular has recently made a name for itself for bouldering families: Paznaun - Ischgl.

Bouldering in the Silvapark

Bouldering in the Silvapark

Above Galtür there is even a separate children's bouldering area. Especially in summer, when the temperatures in the valley are unbearably hot, you can climb perfectly up here due to the altitude. In addition, the ambience with the many scattered boulders embedded in the beautiful mountain landscape is unique. For experts, there are bouldering opportunities up to FB 8c.

You can get to the area either by cable car or by car. It is permitted to drive up the gravel road to the paid parking lot. The first boulders can be reached after a 10-minute walk suitable for children.

Crash pads, boulder chalk bags and other equipment can be hired. It is advisable to bring warm clothing even in summer.

If the weather doesn't play along, there is an indoor bouldering area in the Alpinarium in Galtür.

Afterwards, you can add a visit to the adventure museum in the Alpinarium Galtür.

A via ferrata for families

There is also a dedicated family via ferrata: the Little Ballun. With the right equipment, children aged 8 and over have the opportunity to gain via ferrata experience for the first time.

The Paznaun - Ischgl region

Paznaun is a 40-kilometre-long valley in the west of Tyrol. It begins in Pians near Landeck and extends to the Bieler Höhe, where it borders on Voralberg.

In winter, it is best known for the ski resort of Ischgl.

How to get there

Take the Inntalautobahn A12 to Landeck and continue on the expressway towards St. Anton am Arlberg as far as the Paznauntal exit.

The journey from the west via Vorarlberg through Montafon and the toll road Silvretta Hochalpenstraße is worthwhile.
