Climb rock faces once again, secured by a wire rope, and enjoy the unique view from the summit. Is that also possible in the fall? Yes, if you plan your tours carefully and make sure the ascents and descents are short. We have selected some worthwhile via ferrata destinations that offer summit experiences with great views, but also take into account the short days.
1st Wilder Kaiser: via ferrata Stripsenjoch
If you want to climb up to a hut again in autumn, you should pack your rucksack, take your via ferrata equipment and hike up to the Stripsenjochhaus in the Kufsteinerland region at 1,577 meters. The house sits on the Stripsenjoch like a stone sentinel above the Wilder Kaiser and Zahmem Kaiser. The Stripsenjoch via ferrata in difficulty level C/D is divided into three sections, with options for variations. The climb is south-facing and therefore ideal for autumn days. The pure climbing time is approx. one hour. If you have already climbed up to the Stripsenjochhaus the day before and spent the night there, you can enjoy a leisurely day on the via ferrata. If you start from the valley, you can reach the start of the via ferrata from the Griesner Alm in around 1.5 hours.

2nd Tyrol's high plateau: impressive views on the Seefeld panoramic via ferrata
A special treat for the golden October is the ascent of the new Seefeld panoramic via ferrata in the Olympiaregion Seefeld. From the 2,220-metre-high Seefeld peak, you can enjoy fantastic views of the entire Karwendel mountains. The difficulty rating is C moderate. The tour takes around 3 hours in total, 1.5 to 2 hours for the via ferrata, the rest for the ascent and descent with cable car support. Depending on the weather, the cable car is open until October 26.

3rd Innsbruck: Wank via ferrata - a spectacular finish in early autumn
Admittedly, the Wank via ferrata near Mieming in the Innsbruck region is not a tour for late fall - it's too high up and the ascent and descent times are too long. But in September, when the weather is perfect, it is definitely an extremely worthwhile destination that requires a lot of strength and fitness. You have to climb over the ridge from Stöttltörl, 2,036 meters, to the Wankspitze, 2,209 meters. The summit experience is indescribable. But beware: with around 6.5 hours of walking and climbing time, this is a real day tour and can only be done in early fall. You should definitely find out about the current conditions beforehand and possibly combine the tour with an overnight stay at the Lehnberghaus. Definitely a great tour to say goodbye to summer and welcome the fall.
